Outplacement with a difference

Supporting You Through Redundancy

What is outplacement?

Outplacement services provide job search and career transition support to those facing redundancy. They offer the practical and emotional specialist career coaching support that will enable an individual to navigate the competitive job market and move into appropriate new employment as soon as possible. Outplacement is an employer-sponsored benefit provided at no cost to the departing employee. Research has shown that successful outplacement improves both staff retention and enhances a company’s brand. Outplacement additionally reduces the likelihood of wrongful termination claims and the potential risk of legal action. With a number of benefits to both the employer and departing employees, it’s no wonder outplacement is becoming a natural part of the employee lifecycle.

Why is outplacement important?

Now more than ever, companies are putting great efforts into ensuring their employee experience and company culture are the best they can be. Both have a huge effect on a company’s reputation, not to mention how it can leverage the attraction and retention of top talent.

The experience of an employee can be divided into 3 distinct steps - recruitment and onboarding, the employee experience and offboarding. Most companies invest a lot of money, time and energy into ensuring steps 1 and 2 are in place. However, it is worth considering what you do in step 3 and how this could be greatly enhanced with a small investment to ensure your ex-employees are equipped to go out into the marketplace with a positive attitude towards their experience with your company - not just in steps 1 and 2, but in all 3 steps. This in turn promotes the positive experience of working with your company and builds your reputation as an employer.

Step 1
Recruitment and Onboarding

How do you manage your recruitment process to attract top talent, and how do you search in the competitive marketplace for talent?

Step 2
The Employee Experience

What is it like for employees to work at your company? What is the culture like and what benefits and prospects do you offer?

Step 3
Offboarding of employees

How do you treat the people leaving your company who take your reputation with them? How do you help to build positivity that in turn impacts steps 1 and 2?
